Vintage vanity refreshed with glass tiles!

BEFORE scroll to end to see the AfterA neighbor down the street had this in the driveway with a FREE sign! I grabbed it and threw it in the truck! It sat in my teenage daughters room for a few years and then she wanted to paint it. But I really loved the already worn look and talked her into letting me just tile the top where the wood is chipped.

 I have never tiled anything before, but headed to Hom Depot and found this cool blue glass tile that came in 12" x 12" flexible squares that were $4.00 each!! Grabbed adhesive/tile grout, a sponge and the tool the apply the grout...whatever that is called:)

 This was so easy and fun! I put down the adhesive, cut the tile webbing with a scissors to fit, put it in place and waited 24 hours to fill in the grout and wipe the tile off!

AFTER

I love the new look! My daughter was going to bring it to her college apartment, but the room was too small, so it sits in her room at home, but at least I can admire it! Total cost about $25! Remember the desk was free!

Make a baggy t-shirt more fitted!

 Cut extra fabric from sleeves, and since I don't like round necks I cut a "V" in the neckline and added pink trim.

Of course this requires a sewing machine and basic sewing skills! I sewed the sleeves so they were more fitted, sewed on the pink neck trim and sewed the sides so the shirt was more fitted. Now the shirt is still comfy, but not baggy!

Vintage initial "J" bracelet

 Ok so below are the materials I used; a vintage avon gold bracelet with a plain ivory front, a vintage rhinestone "J" pin, E6000 glue and a cutter tool.

 I simply cut the pin off the back of the J pin and glued in onto the bracelet.

Vintage nautical bracelet

 This project was so simple! I found old buttons and this cool vintage plastic cuff bracelet in an antique shop and glued the buttons on the plain white bracelet!

Travel souvenier becomes inexpensive art!

 This is a framed Key West art guide made out of the materials below that cost me only $10.00!

I grabbed this free Key West art gallery guide in a gallery on a trip this past winter, I bought some green glittery scrapbook paper and cut for the mat. I then cut the picture I wanted out of the guide and glued in place. To make it more interesting, I cut black leather trim to glue around the picture. Perfect almost free keepsake that reminds me of the destination.

Hand painted glitter and gold bracelet

Below is the bracelet how I found it on a recent Puerto Rico trip! The buckle was boring wood. I knew I could make it much more interesting!

 Below are the materials; an 18k gold leaf pen and some aqua glitter paint and paint brush.

 I painted the wood with the gold pen.

 I then hand painted the design with this cool aqua glitter paint!

 The finished bracelet is much cooler than the way I found it! I love it!
